MABA is going strong! 

The Mid America Buckskin Association is the Indiana Charter of the International Buckskin Horse Association, a nonprofit organization with the goal to better the buckskin breed within Indiana and across the country.  We welcome duns, red duns, grulla and buckskin horses along with buckskin bred horses – those who have an IBHA registered dam, sire, grand dam or grand sire and are at least 14hh.  Charter clubs can offer the following classes for buckskin bred horses:  Mare Halter, Stallion Halter, Gelding Halter, Western Pleasure, Hunter under Saddle, Ranch Riding, Ranch Pleasure and Ranch Conformation.

I am a long time IBHA member and a past president of MABA.  I’ve been showing since I was 22 months old and currently fit, train and show horses with halter horses being my passion.  I am also an approved show judge for POA and 4-H.  Our Charter motto states:  “We are an association of good people and buckskin horses”.  It is our desire to bring new opportunities for all levels of horse lovers to gather, compete and celebrate our love of horses together.

We have two shows scheduled this year. On June 18th & 19th we will host a show at the Hoosier Horse Park in Edinburg, IN.  On September 24th & 25th we will show at the Henry County Saddle Club in Newcastle, IN.  Both shows will have a split/combined schedule and we have 4 judges under contract for each show.  We will host a futurity at the September show this year and year-end awards will be given for high point and high point reserve in 9 divisions.

We have a strong youth team again this year and welcome new members.  It is never too late to contact us about joining.

We are and will continue to experience growing pains as we move forward, but our plan is to work closely with our neighboring charters for the betterment of IBHA.  We have a good group of officers and long-term members, but our charter needs your help and participation.  This is your club and we can’t succeed without you.
